I wasn’t looking for rabbits I was looking for lupines. One of the quiet joys of carrying a camera is that the destination isn’t always the photograph. Sometimes it’s simply the reason to get out the door. The lupines were beginning to bloom, and I was following patches of purple through a garden when I came across a signpost pointing to places that don’t exist on any map. Witches Woods. Birdhouse Way. Bunnyville. Mermaids Manor. Perched above it all was a white rabbit, caught in mid-flight, as if even it couldn’t decide which direction to go. I stopped looking for lupines for a while. The flowers were still there—soft purple spires rising among the daisies—but the photograph became something else entirely. A small, unexpected piece of whimsy hidden among the blooms. A reminder that wandering with a camera isn’t always about finding what you planned to photograph. Sometimes the best images are the ones that politely interrupt your intentions. And yes, I eventually found the lupines. But for a few moments, I found Bunnyville instead. — cbp | craigbradleyphotography
