wasn&#8217;t looking for rabbits<br>I was looking for lupines.<br>One of the quiet joys of carrying a camera is that the destination isn&#8217;t always the photograph. Sometimes it&#8217;s simply the reason to get out the door. The lupines were beginning to bloom, and I was following patches of purple through a garden when I came across a signpost pointing to places that don&#8217;t exist on any map.<br><strong>Witches Woods. Birdhouse Way. Bunnyville. Mermaids Manor.<\/strong><br>Perched above it all was a white rabbit, caught in mid-flight, as if even it couldn&#8217;t decide which direction to go.<br>I stopped looking for lupines for a while.<br>The flowers were still there\u2014soft purple spires rising among the daisies\u2014but the photograph became something else entirely. A small, unexpected piece of whimsy hidden among the blooms. A reminder that wandering with a camera isn&#8217;t always about finding what you planned to photograph.<br>Sometimes the best images are the ones that politely interrupt your intentions.<br>And yes, I eventually found the lupines.
